AEG was founded by Mr.Rathenau in Berlin, Germany in 1887. It is one of the earliest electric companies in the world, leading and promoting the electrification movement in Europe. AEG has rich innovation experience in power system, rail transit, aerospace, household appliances and other fields.
AEG has a long history with China: in 1928, Chinese ambassador to Germany Zuobin Jiang visited the representative technology of Germany in AEG factory. A 56-year-old AEG medium voltage circuit breaker, which represents history, technology and friendship, is presented in the M5 creative park on Suzhou River in Shanghai; AEG is also one of the first enterprises to enter China in the process of China's reform and opening up. Its products are used in Baosteel, Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower and Beijing Yansha center. AEG also helps Chinese enterprises to improve the technical level of electrical products by means of authorized manufacturing. The automatic frame circuit breaker technology transferred from 1980s to 1990s has greatly improved the manufacturing capacity of Chinese enterprises, and the products are in short supply in the market.
Like most multinational companies, AEG has experienced a lot of changes and restructuring in the past 130 years. As a joint venture of AEG electrical products in China, AEGED promotes a full range of circuit breakers, contactors, all insulated gas ring main units, motor control units and power intelligent products, which are under 40.5kV in the Chinese market.
In 2019, AEG acquired the power distribution business of GE in China, further increasing its investment and commitment in China. By combining the original GE power distribution, the new AEG product line covers a complete range of medium and low voltage circuit breakers, industrial control and automation, power quality, critical power, complete equipment, transformers, home appliances and other complete power solutions, so as to bring the Germany's technology and quality to Chinese customers in the most localized way and the highest cost performance.
AEG was one of the first brands to introduce art design and modern aesthetics into industrial design. Peter Behrens, AEG's chief designer, is the lead architect of the German Manufacturing Alliance and has had a profound influence on the development of modern German architecture. From 1909 to 1912, he was involved in the construction of the company's plant complex, in which he designed the turbine workshop to become the most influential building in Germany at that time, known as the first truly "modern building".
